Steel 1.4016

1.4016 steel , also known as X6Cr17 stainless steel, is a type of stainless steel with low carbon and chromium content. The chemical composition of this steel is:

  • Chromium (Cr):  Approximately 16-18% chromium, which provides basic corrosion resistance.
  • Carbon (C):  The carbon content is usually less than 0.08%, making it a low carbon steel.

Main features and applications of 1.4016 steel

Steel 1.4016 has basic corrosion resistance, thanks to its chromium content. Although it is not as resistant as steel 1.4301[hax-inox.pl/tabele-techniczne/gatunki-i-sklad/stal-nierdzewna/stal-1-4301] or 1.4310, it is durable enough for many applications. This material is relatively easy to machine, including cutting, welding and forming.

Steel 1.4016 is often used in the production of kitchen equipment, such as knives, dishes, sinks and kitchen accessories. It is also used in the production of decorative elements, for example in architecture and interior design.

Although it is not designed for extreme temperatures, it can withstand moderate temperatures without losing its mechanical properties. It is relatively cheap to produce, making it popular in applications where basic corrosion resistance is required but cost is a key factor.
