The tapes are available in two hardness states:

• soft – cold rolled or hot rolled (these include such species as 1.4016, 1.4301, 1.4404, 1.4401, 1.4541, 1.4509, 1.4306, 1.4512, 1.4303 and many others),
• semi-hard – are hardened by crumple (these include species 1.4301, 1.4016, 1.4404,1.4310).
